Note: Lems Chelsea boots are in very limited supply right now at CEM.  We have noticed a manufacturing defect that's a little too common and won't be ordering more Chelsea Boots for the time being. Our current stock has all been checked for this issue and passes our high quality standards. Currently we do not have a timeline of when we can start restocking them.

The Cedar version of the Lems Chelsea boot is not waterproof.

A slip-on Chelsea boot featuring great width and the outsole of the well-loved Primal Zen!

The Lems Chelsea Boot is built with a fully waterproof membrane and full-grain oiled leather, keeping your feet cozy and dry this winter. Though not itself insulated to add warmth, the protection from wind and wet goes a long way towards staying warm for casual city use, especially when paired with cozy socks and enough toe-room for great circulation.

This general style of boot dates back to Victorian England, popular with both men and women, but started to become associated with the Chelsea area of London in the 1950s-1960s. After over 100 years in fashion, the elasticized ankle boot design is still wildly popular for their durability and ease of use.

Sizing

Lems recommends going up half a size in this model. The leather will soften and mould to your feet over time, it's a thick and high quality leather that will grow softer and more flexible with use.

These tend to suit average volume feet best.  If you have high volume feet or high arches, you may want to go a full size up in this model as it can be tight over the instep. We also recommend that full size up if you want to pair them with heavy weight or thick socks most of the time.

The footprint shape is triangular as is Lems's signature fit, so the heel area fits with snug security while the toebox is generous for freedom of movement. The toebox shape suits Sloping, Mountain, and Plateau shape toes best, though narrower Square toes will also be fine. For wider square toes, that full size up is likely best to be safe.

Ground Feel

The Lems Chelsea has a zero-drop heel and an 11mm full stack height (not including 3.5mm optional insole).

The Chelsea boot provides a medium amount of sensation through the sole once worn in, similar to the Primal Zen. At first, the stiffness of the leather will make these boots less flexible, but that will ease up over time as the soles themselves are flexible.

Best Uses

The versatile Chelsea-style boot is suitable for both city sidewalks and light trails from fall through spring. It combines a classic look that is great for casual office attire or going to restaurants and other outings during cooler months.

The waterproof aspect (Espresso only) makes these boots a great choice in wet conditions and when paired with a thick pair of socks can be used throughout the winter season, too. The medium tread will give you a good bit of traction, though you may want to watch your step more carefully if it's super icy or on technical terrain.
