New To Minimal Shoes?

The Phoenix's sole is very thin and flexible and does not feel cushiony, so it gives you a LOT of feedback from the ground, like walking barefoot. If you've never worn minimal shoes before, we might recommend starting with a model that has a bit more cushioning, but some customers are fine to start out with these, for eg. if you only wear them at work and your work is carpeted.

For models with a lot of ground feel like this you want to pay extra attention to feedback from your body to guide your transition to minimal shoes, or from cushiony to more barefoot feeling minimal shoes. 

Sizing and Fit Info

The Phoenix tends to fit true to size. You want to aim for a more snug fit than we usually recommend with this model, especially if you have narrower heels. Like most Xero shoes, the width of the Phoenix is fairly even from toe to heel, so if they are too big they can slip off of your heel.

We do carry some similar alternatives that folks with narrower feet may want to look into, and it is possible to customize the knit version by sewing on ribbons or elastics like a true ballet slipper. We cannot accept returns on modified shoes, though.
