The Leguano Active is a casual and athletic shoe handmade in Germany. European style and quality meet barefoot comfort and freedom. It can be worn as an athletic shoe or as a casual shoe for everyday uses. Our customers with naturally narrower feet who want a barely-there shoe will love the Active.
Sizing
We find most of our customers take their regular European size in this model. The Active can form to the shape of your feet slightly but the mesh uppers will not stretch out.
The Active has a sleek fit style:
- this is a unisex style, so women with average to narrow width feet will likely enjoy the Active, but for men (whose feet are generally wider to start with) we recommend the Active for those with narrower feet
- the Active suits average to low volume feet best
- suits foot shapes such as slope/Egyptian or mountain/Greek
- those with longer outer toes or very wide feet may want to go up a size
- Leguano shoes have a slender triangular footprint shape, rather than a rectangle shape or a bean shape
- Leguano uses unisex European sizing: for example, there is no difference between a men's or women's 41
Ground Feel
The Active has less than 1cm stack height, with a bouncy feeling thin sole that is very flexible in all directions. There is no removable insole.
The Active provides lots of sensation through the sole, and feels very close to the ground. If you are new to minimal shoes and used to thick, stiff soles, you may prefer starting off with a more forgiving model. If you enjoy when shoes feel as close as possible to being barefoot, this would be a great model for you.
Care
Leguano states that their shoes are machine washable: "We recommend placing them in a mesh laundry bag in a warm or cold wash. Do not use fabric softener and let them air dry."
