A casual, sustainable, hemp canvas comfort - a closed toe minimal shoe based on Xero Shoes' high-performance FeelTrue® sandal base and the same great features!
Many of our customers use the Hana for work with an office casual style, but they're a great all purpose shoe for those looking for lots of ground feel.
The hemp canvas not only uses way less water to produce than cotton, but it's more durable too. It wears in over time in a similar way to cotton, but takes longer to do so. You end up with a long-lasting shoe that becomes slipper soft and flexible, with naturally breathable and anti-bacterial properties .
Natural FIT — a wide toe box lets your toes spread and relax. Plus the “XERO-drop” sole (non-elevated heel and low-to-the-ground) allows for proper posture, balance, and agility.
Natural FUNCTION — the Hana is flexible enough to let your feet bend, move, and flex the way, well, that feet are supposed to. Plus, they’re so lightweight, you’ll barely know you have them on. A men’s 9 is only 8 ounces each.
Natural FEEL — the Hana uses the same 5.5mm FeelTrue® rubber sole from our Z-Trek sandal, so you get great protection while still getting the ground feedback that your feet like. With an optional 2mm insole, the Hana truly lets you Feel The World®.
Vegan-friendly materials — the Hana’s upper is hemp canvas, the lining and external accents are microfiber. It washes easily with soap and water.
Huarache-inspired design — the heel/instep strap is not only eye-catching but functional, it will automatically adjust the fit of the shoe when you tie the laces.
Flexible heel — feel free to step on the heel and wear the Hana as a slide.
Plus, Hana now has a new, “Rain-Friendly” upper.
BTW, “Rain-Friendly” isn’t the same as “waterproof.” Fully water-proof shoes have a technical liner, sealed seams, and a much higher price. By pre-treating the Hana with a water-resistant coating, you get an extra layer of protection against light splashing right out of the box. As with all treatments of this type, it will wear off over time, so we recommend re-treating regularly depending on use.
New to Minimal Shoes?
The Hanas have a very thin-feeling sole, as if you are barefoot. This can be less forgiving when you are transitioning to minimal shoes, especially on unnaturally hard surfaces. If you will be spending a lot of time on sidewalk and concrete, you may want to start with something more forgiving, and we're happy to suggest alternatives!
For those looking for lots of ground feel and feedback from the surface of what you're walking on, these will be perfect!
Sizing and Fitting Notes
Though Xero recommends ordering your usual size, we have found that the majority of our customers go up half a size in this model. Take a look at our Sizing Guide for more information or send us an email if you're not sure what size to order.
Xero shoes, especially those without a full tongue and lacing like the Hana, have an overall wide shape that is wide in the toebox and doesn't taper towards the heel very much.
They tend to suit medium to high volume feet best because of this. Folks with narrower and less tall feet may find that they have to tie the lacing on these very tight to get a highly secure feeling fit. Those with average width and height feet to high volume feet usually get a great fit with the Hana.
Spot clean with soap and water, or wash them in a laundry bag on a cold, gentle cycle. Lay flat to dry out of direct sunlight.
