Wear-In Time and Care
With any leather product, there is a wear-in period as the leather starts out stiff and softens to become much more pliable with wear. You can enhance the appearance of the Nine2Five and extend its lifetime by keeping the leather maintained with natural leather care products such as leather cleaner and conditioner.
Though we do not carry leather care products they are easy to find online or through your local shoe repair business, outdoor lifestyle business, or tack shop (a tack shop carries horseback riding equipment). Perform maintenance on an as needed basis when the shoes get dirty, especially from road salt, or when you want them to look extra lustrous.
New to Minimal Shoes?
The Nine2Five is suitable for a first pair of minimal shoes, since just like the other Lems models we carry it has a cushiony and thicker sole. This will be more forgiving as you adjust to zero drop shoes and a wider toe box. Some folks will prefer a first minimal shoe that does not require a break in period before reaching its full comfort potential.
Eventually some customers prefer to move on after their transition to minimal shoes to something that feels more like being in bare feet, which would mean a thinner and more flexible sole than the Nine2Five offers. Some, especially those who spend a lot of time on unnaturally hard surfaces like concrete and asphalt, may prefer to continue using shoes like the Nine2Five that help make up for those circumstances with a bit more cushion than other minimal styles.
Sizing and Fit Notes
The Lems Nine2Five runs small, please order at least half a size larger than your usual.
This is a unisex style, so the exact same pair of Lems Nine2Five will be labelled with both a men's and women's size. For eg. a men's 8.5 is the same shoe as a women's 10.

The Lems Natural Last shape used in this design (and the other Lems models we carry) is widest in the toe box and tapers towards the heel. This helps hold your heel securely in the shoe while allowing enough room for your toes to spread out or even to use a toe spreader like Correct Toes.
Lems recommends having a thumb's width of room in front of your toes in this style as it does not stretch out very much.
