Xero uses gendered American Sizing, with women’s or men’s sizes on the label. A men’s 9 will be similar in length to a women’s 10.5, however the men’s sizing is wider and higher volume throughout.

Design Impact: Though the stack height is not very high, the outsole material is somewhat firm. There is just a little bit of squish in the optional insole, so you could wear them without it for a more barefoot feeling or more room for thick socks.

As a transition shoe: Due to the medium groundfeel and flexibility, these shoes are great for most people to transition with. While it’s still important to pay attention to your body’s limits, these shoes may require less changes to your routine if you’re new to barefoot.

The waterproofing comes from layers sandwiched between the inside and outside of the shoe, so you don’t need to use waterproofing spray on these to maintain the waterproofing. You can use it to help avoid mud from staining the boots. Rinsing the outside with water is an appropriate way to clean them. Try to wipe road salt off the fabric promptly to avoid damage over time.
