As a transition shoe: 

Due to the high groundfeel and high flexibility, those new to barefoot would want to transition carefully and gradually with this model. You might start out only wearing them for short periods of time with lower impact activities.

The Smart II are machine-washable shoes and made with durable materials that can withstand a gentle wash cycle. To preserve their quality and ensure proper cleaning, follow these steps:

• Pre-Wash: Remove the laces and insoles.
• Placement: Put the shoes in a delicate wash bag (a pillowcase works too).
• Washing Cycle: Use cold water with mild detergent on a gentle cycle.
• Drying: Shake off excess water and air dry—avoid using a dryer.

Tip: The shoes will regain their original shape after one or two wears.
