This model runs large, most people take one size down from their usual European size.

The Orchid is available in European sizing. While Shapen makes the Orchid in regular barefoot width and extra wide styles, we have decided only to carry the regular barefoot width version to start.

Fit Notes:

• Like any suede leather shoe, the Orchid will soften, stretch, and mould to your feet with wear
• Suede leather is softer and easier to break in than regular leather, so a fairly snug fit is ok for  this casual wear model: you only want a few millimeters extra room
• Footprint shape is triangular: wide at the forefoot and tapering in towards the heel
• The Orchid suits a variety of foot volumes, with best fit going to average volume
• They are much wider than a conventional ballet flat at the toebox, but fairly narrow at the heel
• The fit over the midfoot can be adjusted slightly with the strap and fastening
• It may be possible to take them to a shoe repair to add a hole on the strap in a custom position.
• Toebox shape suits a variety of feet as the slope angle is mild
• Width in the forefoot area is centred

The Orchid has a very thin and flexible sole to give you as close to a barefoot experience as possible while wearing dressy shoes.

If you’re new to minimal shoes take it slow with the Orchid! They would be a big adjustment compared to stiff and cushioned conventional shoes. Look into transitioning into minimal shoes safely, we’re happy to point you towards resources.

Folks looking for the style of a high heel with the fit and feel of a very barefoot model are going to love the Orchid, as you’ll get lots of groundfeel and sensory feedback.

You can spray the Orchid with a suede protector to help any dirt or water slide right off, to ensure the Orchid looks as amazing as it feels for the long run.

For weddings, birthdays, date night, the office, or walking to your neighbourhood cafe to meet a friend, you’ll be wearing the Orchid when you want to look and feel your best.

They are probably not the option you want to reach for when you’re going for a long walk, or if you work on your feet all day. They are designed primarily for casual wear.
