Sizing

Most customers take their regular size in this model. Some will go a half a size up because of the slanting toebox shape on the Scrambler Low EV.

Xero Shoes uses the gendered American sizing system. There is 1.5 sizes’ difference in length, so a men’s 8 is roughly the same length as a women’s 9.5, but the men’s 8 will be wider throughout and taller throughout (high volume).

Fit Notes:

  • We do not anticipate them to stretch out.
  • Xero shoes suit rectangular footprint shapes best.
  • The volume of this model is medium but has a lot of adjustability through the large lacing area.
  • The width is average for minimal shoes
  • The toebox shape should suit folks with sloping or plateau forefoot shapes, and those with square or mountain toebox shapes may go up half a size to accommodate.
  • Width in the forefoot area is centered.
Ground feel

The groundfeel and flexibility are medium to help you navigate trail environments.

The Michelin outsole and built-in layer of trail foam in the Scrambler Low EV provide a little bit of protection for rocky areas while still giving you some feedback on the texture and tilt of the ground. This results in a “just right” style medium ground feel.

They are not as thin-soled as barefoot shoes designed for gym training, but they are super lightweight and flexible compared to conventional trail shoes.

You can wear them without the ~3mm insole for a little more feedback from the ground, or leave it in for hikes in rocky areas.

Care

To clean your Xero Shoes, hand wash with warm water, mild soap and allow them to air dry. Xero does not recommend putting them in the washing machine or dryer.

Best uses

The Scrambler Low EV is good for trail time in the spring, summer, and fall! Experience the freedom of movement you get from a shoe-style hiker instead of a boot, and you can wear them with gaiters for extra protection when desired.

The Michelin sole and the stack materials underfoot are so lightweight and comfortable to walk in, giving you a “just right” amount of cushioning and groundfeel. They’re so lightweight and breezy, you’ll forget they’re even on!

Wearing them everyday on pavement may wear down the lug tread more quickly, so we don’t recommend them as your main city shoe. That said, you might love wearing them so much that you want to wear them everyday and that’s ok, too! They would make a great transition to barefoot shoe.
